Sonia Gandhi’s Dinner Diplomacy failed because of obvious reasons, which was organised as a pre test to forge an alliance against BJP in 2019
In this “Grand Dinner” party, BSP supremo Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, Navin Patnaik and TMC supremo Mamta Banerjee were absent.
Those opposition leaders who attended the “Grand Dinner” are in fact, bitter rivals in their respective states. Even Congress itself is in direct fight with left in Kerala! Not only this, Mayawati’s BSP and Sharad Pawar NCP have forged alliance with Janta Dal in Karnatka. Former PM Deve Gowda has already burnt his fingers in alliance with Congress.
In fact, opposition party leaders are hesitating to rally against Congress president Rahul Gandhi to whom they consider as escapist. During Tripura election result day, Rahul Gandhi was away from India to Italy knowing well that he was about to lose Tripura.
Defeat of BJP in Gorakhpur and Phulpur has ignited a little bit hope in opposion parties. For them, PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah combine has become invincible force, as popularity of PM has not declined even after 4 years of rule.
Lets hope that something positive happens out of this “Grand Dinner” party by Sonia Gandhi.
