Positive India: Shruti Rao has done deep analysis of performance of our parliamentarians and published in Swarajya. Analysis of PRS data on 16th Lok Sabha indicates that only 80% of our parliamentarians attended Lok Sabha, 67.1 percent participated in debates and raised 293 questions on an average. The average number of bills introduced by our MPs stood at 2.3 per head.
When we do the analysis of this data by Shruti Rao, Rahul Gandhi’s attendance in Parliament was just 52%. He participated in 14 debates as compared to 67 debates on an average a parliamentarian participated.
Average attendance of Sonia Gandhi was just 60% .She participated in 6 debates. Sonia Gandhi neither raised any questions nor introduced any private member bills. Akhilesh Yadav’s wife Dimple Yadav’s attendance was just 31%. She asked no questions, introduced no bills. It is really very shameful.
Only 4 MPs scored 100% attendance. Out of these four, 3 MPs are from BJP and 1 from Biju Janata Dal -Odisha.
From BJP side 100% scorer are Gopal Chinayya Shetty , Ramesh Chandra Kaushik and Bhairo Prasad Mishra. From Biju Janata Dal is Dr.Kulamani Somal from Odisha.
With 100% attendance Bhairo Prasad Mishra from Banda UP, stands first. Not only this , he has participated in 2095 debates, which is highest in numbers and he has raised 545 questions too.
There are three parameters to understand the performance of our law makers in Lok Sabha. Attendance, the number of questions asked and participation in debates. These parameters serve as a report card of any parliamentarian and this report card indicates the discipline and consistency of any MP.
From BJP side, MP Shatrughan Sinha participated in ZERO questions, participated in ZERO debates and introduced ZERO bills.
Attendance of Hema Malini is just 39% but at the same time she raised 210 questions and participated in 17 debates.
Attendance of actor turned politician Paresh Rawal is 66% and he asked 185 questions and participated in 8 debates.
For 17th Lok Sabha, convassing is on. Our future MPs are going to voters to woo them, so that , they can reach parliament. But what we can do as Voters? What is our duty as Voters? We must do analysis of whatever they have done in Parliament. After deep analysis of their performance, we, as Indian, should vote so that our democracy must be strengthened.Voting is our right and every Indian must cast his/her vote.
