Positive India:Raipur:To ensure effective implementation of Narva, Garua, Ghurua, Gauthan Yojana and plantation drive in Bilaspur division, Chief Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Forest Department and In-charge Secretary of the district RP Mandal today chaired a division-level workshop and review meeting of officials today. In the meeting, RP Mandal gave instructions to ensure plantation of saplings in each and every cowshed and grassland. Also he directed the officials concerned to ensure treatment of canals under ‘Narva Vikas Yojana, in a scientific manner.
In the meeting held at manthan conference hall, he directed all the district collectors, jila panchayat CEOs, DFOs to ensure monitoring of plantation work. At least 400 saplings should be planted in each cowshed and minimum 2000 saplings should be planted in grasslands. He gave instructions that each sapling planted under the drive should be nurtured properly.
Mr.Mandal gave instructions to mark patch for intensive plantation on riverbank. Plantation of saplings would be done on the banks of rivers namely- Maniyari, Shivnath, Shabri, Kharun, Arpa. He informed that the plantation drive would be conducted under the funds of ‘Hariyar Chhattisgarh’ scheme, MNREGA and departmental fund of Forest Department. All the DFOs have been given instructions to ensure availability of land for plantation and also protection of the saplings planted.
Home delivery service for plantation
In the meeting Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Rakesh Chaturvedi informed that people interested in planting saplings in their homes and personal spaces will be provided home delivery of saplings on one phone call. He added that this service has been recently started in Raipur and soon the same service will be made available in all the districts of the state. He directed all the DFOs to start the service as soon as possible and ensure wide publicity of the same. Officials were directed to start distribution of free saplings under MNREGA within two days.
City Forest to be developed in cities by October 2
In-charge Secretary IAS Mandal directed the officials to mark 10-15 acres of land in every district for development of city forest. Development of city forests should be completed by October 2, i.e. Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. These city forests would be named as Forest Gandhi Oxy-Town.
Scientific Treatment of ‘Narva’ under Narva Vikas Yojana
Mr.Mandal informed that under Narva Vikas Yojana, ‘narva’ (nala) would be treated for making it more useful in farming and in improvement of water-table. Officials were directed to mark such ‘narva’, treatment of which may benefit maximum number of people.
In the meeting, Division Commissioner BL Banjare, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Collector Bilaspur Dr Sanjay Alang, Collector Mungeli Dr Sarveshvar Narendra Bhure, Collector Korba Mrs. Kiran Kaushal, Janjgir Collector Mr.Janak Pathak, Raigarh Collector Mr. Yashwant kumar, CEOs Jila Panchayat of all the districts, DFO and other officials concerned were present.
