Deep Diving Into COVID Positive Ocean:Dr Piyushi
Will anyone higher up in command chain really bother ?!
Positive India:Dr.Piyushi Sao:
I learned so much from this Covid duty… Most positive cases in their happy hypoxia having bilateral pneumonia yet stable…. And most ward cases needing oxygen but having to prioritize patients because of lack oxygen supply… People turning up in the middle of the night with saturation 30% and collapsing in minutes before we are able to shift them to ICCU … And to those who thought that only old and debilitated will be affected by COVID… Big bummer– I have seen young and healthy people equally presenting with severe breathlessness requiring critical care..
By the end of the week, I remembered in March, there were these memes running.. If you don’t want to get intubated an ophthalmologist—stay home-stay safe.. And come July.. Situation has progressed that ophthalmologist are required to do the same….
The way things are progressing, it really scares me… With Covid protocols changing every week, it drives people working in COVID Positive Wards nuts..
In March, our first colleague tested COVID Positive.. All the primary contacts were quarantined in separate guest house.. Come July .. 7 colleague positive and one brother needing critical care… The fact that healthcare workers who have sweat in their PPE day and night, fighting for lives , exposing themselves, are literally being affected the worst..
So many more emotions come to play.. I personally felt so understaffed running around from one ward to other managing 40 over cases alone… While management came to help, couldn’t really blame them as the cases rose drastically in a wave..
I really wonder, if situation comes to us healthcare workers ourselves needing critical care , will we get it?! Will anyone higher up in command chain really bother ?!
By no means this was a display of anger… Rather, I just wanted to tell how serious the scenario has become!
