Positive India:Raipur:28th April: We work to earn and live a healthy and satisfactory life but in certain situations the workplace can expose people to dangerous diseases called occupational disease. Here is a case of a 35-year-young man from Chhattisgarh who suffered from a lung occupational disease. He worked at a stone mining factory for years which exposed him to Silica, a substance naturally found in certain types of stone, rock, sand, and clay. Working with these materials can create a very fine dust that can be easily inhaled.
This man was diagnosed with Silicosis, a long-term lung disease caused by inhaling large amounts of crystalline silica dust, usually over many years. Despite undergoing various treatments, his condition continued to deteriorate, and he was left with no other option but to undergo a lung transplant. Following a rigorous screening process and evaluation, the patient was deemed an ideal candidate for the transplant.
The financial condition of this young man did not support the treatment options but with a generous help from the Pulmonary team at Narayana Health and government, the patient was able to get the treatment.
The patient was evaluated by Dr Dipesh Maskey (Sr. Consultant – Pulmonary medicine). The lung transplant was performed by Dr. Basha Khan at Narayana Health City Bangalore. The surgery was performed without any complications, and the patient is now recovering well.
“We are delighted to have been able to provide the necessary treatment and care to our patient,” said Dr. Basha Khan (Sr Consultant- Lung transplant and pulmonary), who led this team. “The successful outcome of this transplant is a testament to our commitment to providing the best care possible to our patients.”
Lung transplant surgery is a complex and delicate procedure that requires expertise and experience. The team at Narayana Health is renowned for its exceptional skills and expertise in performing such surgeries.
“We are thrilled that we were able to help our patient overcome this debilitating disease and give him a new lease on life,” said Mr. Tapani Ghosh, Facility Director, NH MMI Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Raipur. “This success is a result of our team’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to delivering the best possible care to our patients.”
The patient is expected to make a full recovery and resume his normal activities in due course. The team of Narayana Health wishes him a speedy recovery.
