CJI Ranjan Gogoi Gets Justice In Sexual Harassment Case

Positive India:Chief Justice of India, justice Ranjan Gogoi gets clean chit in sexual harassment case against him.A former Supreme Court women staffer had complained to the senior judges of SC that CJI Ranjan Gogoi had made sexual advances to her.This sexual harassment charges have Stormed Political and Judicial arena like anything as charges were against CJI, the custodian of Justice.
An In House Committee of justice SA Bobde, Indra Banerjee and justice Ramana was constituted to investigate the charge of sexual harassment against CJI. The complainant objected for justice Ramana for being in the Committee on the ground that he was very close to CJI. Immediately justice Ramana was replaced by justice Indu Malhotra.
This three members In House Committee investigated the sexual harassment charges. The complainant appeared before the Committee but soon she walked away saying that she has been denied the assistance of a “support person”. The Committee investigated the charges and submitted its report to the next senior most judge of SC and one copy to CJI Ranjan Gogoi, exonerating him of sexual harassment charges,as In House Procedure is not liable to be made public.
CJI Ranjan Gogoi was one of the four judges who called an unprecedented Press Conference and made public the administration and bench making of Supreme Court.
Justice Gogoi is the first CJI from North Eastern state. He had been the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
